All Puptopia Festivals Rescheduled for May 2020
Due to COVID-19

As you all may know, as of yesterday, the Houston Health Department and the Mayor's Office of Special Events ordered cancellation of all Houston special events through the end of March, prompted by a new COVID-19 case in Montgomery County.

Accordingly, our Houston venue (Discovery Green) - per the emergency health declaration by the city - officially cancelled all scheduled special events through the end of the month, including Puptopia Festival on March 28th.

As of this writing, several states (Washington, California, etc.) have mandated all mass gatherings larger than 250 people be cancelled or postponed, and based upon our conversations with state and local health officials, it is expected that Texas will be enforcing similar guidance very soon, likely before our first Dallas event takes place on March 21st.

Equally important, we have been receiving increasing amounts of participant feedback regarding COVID-19, with growing concerns and anxiety about attending the events. This is something we take incredibly seriously, as Puptopia Festival was always designed to be a fun, entertaining, celebratory experience with you and your pup.

On the one hand, we are truly stunned by the fluidity and gravity of this situation. We could never have imagined city-wide cancellations imposed on Puptopia Festival or other special events around the country, and certainly not this suddenly. This event is a true labor of love for us and something we’ve been investing in and working tirelessly on for a very long time. We are saddened and shocked by the circumstances to say the least, but also understand the situation is now beyond our control…and the safety and well-being of our Puptopia Festival family is priority #1.

With that in mind, the team here at Puptopia Festival has been working feverishly over the last 48 hours with all of our constituents/stakeholders (municipalities, venues, staff, sponsors and volunteers) to prepare for the worst and plan for the best. Leaving no stone un-turned, we’ve had our heads down, relentlessly determined to lock in contingencies for Puptopia Festival should something as devastating as what we’re seeing actually did occur. You (our participant) have been the north star in all of these efforts, informing how best to proceed in delivering Puptopia Festival in the manner it was always intended.

New Puptopia Festival 2020 Dates

So, we are beyond thrilled to announce that Puptopia Festival 2020 is not cancelled; all three events are being rescheduled to the month of May. Everything at Puptopia Festival 2020 will remain the same (same locations, times, experiences), the only thing changing are the dates, as follows:
  • Puptopia Houston – May 16th at Discovery Green
  • Puptopia Austin – May 23rd at Mueller Lake Park
  • Puptopia Dallas – May 30th at Main Street Garden

Information for Current Ticket-Holders

Any Puptopia Festival 2020 tickets purchased will be automatically transferred to the new dates. There will be no refunds.

Additionally, for all Puptopia Festival 2020 ticket-holders who purchased tickets on or before Thursday, March 12, 2020, we are offering the following exceptions:
  • Your Puptopia Festival 2020 ticket can now be transferred one-time to any other Puptopia Festival 2020 event or future Puptopia Festival 2021 event (market transfers are permitted)
  • Your Puptopia Festival 2020 ticket(s) can be transferred one-time to another individual of your choosing (ticket-splitting not permitted)
If you would like help with a ticket transfer, feel free to chat online with us (for the quickest response) or simply email info@puptopiafestival.com with your name, order number and transfer request details.

We  understand rescheduling Puptopia Festival 2020 is far from ideal, but we are extremely excited to still bring you this incredible event this spring, just a few weeks later than planned. In our heart of hearts, we know this is the best-case scenario to ensure a safe and successful Puptopia Festival experience for everyone.

We’re looking forward to seeing you and your furry friends there!

Safety of Our Human and Pup Participants is Priority #1

There is no higher priority to Puptopia Festival than the safety of our participants, employees, vendors, volunteers and pups. We are in close consultation with City and County officials in Dallas, Houston and Austin, as well as healthcare professionals to stay on top of this evolving situation.

According to the most recent information from the CDC, as well as all three local health departments, the immediate risk of being exposed to the virus that causes COVID-19 is low.

While people need to remain vigilant, according to local health departments, there is currently no need for the average person to take out-of-the-ordinary protective actions regarding the Coronavirus.

Health officials in Dallas, Houston and Austin encourage the public to remain calm and further point out that there is no evidence of community spread in any of these markets.

What We're Doing at Puptopia Festival

Puptopia Festival takes public health and safety extremely seriously and will continue to be guided by City and County officials to determine if modifications to our events are necessary.

At this time, Puptopia Festival has been advised there is no reason to modify the schedule of any of our events.

Additionally, we want you to feel confident when attending Puptopia Festival. As a result, we are taking the following measures in the interest of all participants’ health and safety:
  • Ensuring hand sanitizer and hand-washing/sanitizing stations are widely available throughout the festival site
  • Increasing backstock of hand sanitizer
  • Increasing frequency of sanitizing common touch points including at Pupformance and Spaw
  • Consulting with our EMS partners about day-of best practices
  • Directing staff and volunteers showing any symptoms of illness to stay home
Rest assured, we are monitoring this developing situation closely, staying advised by local agencies, health organizations and other experts. Should there be any further health-related updates to Puptopia Festival, we will post them on the website.
